Overview
GoSoLocal was founded on the belief that as the world continues to move at a radical, digital-first pace, a service—albeit an application-based service—has the power to connect travelers to real, friendly, verified locals. To people who can build confidence in discovering new places, giving you exactly what you pictured when you decided to travel.
I was approached by founder, Matthew Quinn, to help with the evolution of the branding. The app was in beta phase and as it came closer to launch, Matthew felt it was time to take the design to the next level.

As a start up company, Matthew hadn't worked too much on the aesthetic of the brand, but knew it's importance going forward. He had clear ideas on direction and we were able to discuss and develop the branding through a very quick and straightforward process.

Brand application
The design process we went through led us to a very stylised aesthetic, which was then applied throughout the touch points on the website and app.

I developed a brand mascot (which ultimately became part of the main logo), with a range of poses created for use in alternate places. An icon style was also created for explainer graphics, such as How It Works, which you can see below.
The design style is very bold, with characterful fonts and retro inspired graphics, masterfully translated to web by Hannah and the app development team to bring cohesion across all branded elements.

From our first interaction I felt that Charlotte’s process, approach and working style was a perfect fit for us. It was easy sharing ideas, discussing brand direction and exploring creative concepts with Charlotte because she's both a very clear and effective communicator, whilst also being an exceptional designer. The quality of the work Charlotte has produced for us is the highest quality, and far beyond anything we could have imagined. We'll be continuing our partnership and look forward to the future!

The result
By working closely together, Matthew was able to achieve the branding and design aesthetic he was hoping for, a fun and bold look and feel to inject life and soul into his travel app.

With a full asset suite exported in all the file types he would need, along with a clear guide of how to use them, the GoSoLocal brand has now launched across all touch points, bringing cohesion and brand trust to the company.
